History
Launched in 2019 and co-founded by Joe Romm, Front Page Live (FPL) is a progressive news and opinion website. The website does not disclose the other co-founders or how the website was/is funded. However, through a search we uncovered that former Fox News Reporter Carl Cameron is the other co-founder. Front Page Live provides a masthead that lists top level people associated with the website as well as a description of their mission: “At Front Page Live, we don’t tell you what to think. We share stories and articles we trust and let you make your own informed decisions…about what you can do for issues you care deeply about. We’re dedicated to real facts, diverse voices, and the support of honest journalism that tells the truth and reflects the values and voices of the majority of Americans.”
Joe Romm currently serves as CEO and Editor-in-Chief. Joe Romm is the founding editor of ClimateProgress.

Analysis / Bias
Joe Romm describes the website as an “antidote” to the Drudge Report. He states to The Hill “But whereas Drudge aggregates and viralizes right-wing content, which includes a lot of disinformation and climate science denial, we will aim to aggregate and viralize accurate news.”
In review, Front Page Live covers news via hashtags. For example, the hashtags during this review are #ViralNow, #2020race, #ClimateCrisis, #World, #Culture, #Business, #Science, #Justice, #CarlCameron. News reporting is presented rarely as original content, with most providing a summary that leads to the full article or others that simply link straight to the offsite article.
103: Front Page Newsletter
Front Page Live frequently uses loaded emotional wording in headlines such as this: Why Trump might be panicking about suburban women. This story is a summary of an article from the left leaning Think Progress, which has failed fact checks. In an original article, Jimmy is back! Republicans have tried many times to count President Carter out, and they have never been right, they properly source their information to the New York Times and the Atlanta Journal Constitution. FPL also frequently reports on climate change and supports the consensus of the science: Trump claims ignoring climate change is protecting ‘wealth’ as he skips int’l climate meeting. This story is appropriately sourced to the Associated Press.
Editorially, only Carl Cameron creates editorial content, which is delivered via video. Most of his content is relatively balanced when it comes to liberal – conservative, however when discussing Trump, there is always a negative tone: Trump’s Awful August.
In general, most news is derived or summarized from other sources. FPL uses a wide range of sources, however some of these have failed fact checks. Story selection almost always favors the left, especially as it relates to climate change.
A factual search reveals they have not failed a fact check.
Overall, we rate Front Page Live Left Biased based on story selection that almost always leans liberal/progressive. We also rate them Mostly Factual for reporting due to occasionally using sources that have failed fact checks. (D. Van Zandt 8/28/2019)
